JCB, a leading heavy equipment manufacturer, is witnessing double-digit growth this year. The company has announced its plans to make its machinery more eco-friendly by reducing fossil fuel consumption. JCB's CEO and Managing Director, Deepak Shetty, revealed that one in every two heavy machines sold in India is a JCB product. The newly introduced machine is designed to cut fuel consumption by 14% compared to its predecessor. Shetty highlighted this as a key step in the company’s efforts to make its equipment more energy-efficient. “This machine will reduce fuel consumption by 2000 litres every year and the new model also offers a 5 per cent increase in productivity,” Major Financial Benefits for OwnersShetty also noted that the JCB NXT 215 LC Fuel Master could offer significant savings to owners. He estimated that the reduced fuel consumption could save around Rs. 2.9 lakh annually.The company has been focused on enhancing fuel efficiency in its machines, according to Shetty. Over the past decade, JCB has increased the fuel efficiency of its backhoe loader by nearly 40%.“JCB was the first to launch a CNG powered backhoe loader in 2021 and we are also the first to launch a hydrogen combustion machine. We are now taking the machine through testing and validation. The infrastructure is yet to come up,” he added further.“We are absolutely bullish on this as the government has the National Hydrogen Mission. We are in talks with various government departments on this too. Creation of the hydrogen ecosystem is going on. We are also working on various elements of that ecosystem,” Shetty stated.Last December, the company introduced its first machine powered by a newly developed hydrogen combustion engine.
