The Government of India has approved the construction of the 568-km long Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway. This new six-lane expressway will improve road connectivity and make travel faster. The project is expected to cost ₹386.45 billion, with Bihar contributing around ₹275.52 billion.
The expressway will pass through 313 villages and 39 blocks in eight districts of Bihar. These districts include West Champaran, East Champaran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj. Out of the total 568 km stretch, 417 km will be in Bihar. This road will help people travel more easily while also boosting trade and business.
To improve transportation, the project will include several bridges over major rivers, such as the Gandak, Bagmati, and Kosi. These bridges will ensure smooth and safe movement of vehicles, reducing delays and traffic congestion.
The Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway will not only improve travel but also bring new opportunities for business and employment. Faster access to markets and better trade routes will benefit farmers, traders, and industries. This expressway is expected to boost Bihar’s infrastructure and strengthen regional development.
