Liebherr has proudly celebrated the production of its 10,000th XPower wheel loader at its manufacturing facility. Popular place in Bischofshofen, Austria, marking a significant achievement in the company’s commitment to durability, efficiency, and innovation in heavy machinery.
The anniversary model, an L 580 XPower, features a power-split travel drive developed in collaboration with ZF Friedrichshafen AG. At the core of the XPower wheel loader’s success is its power-split travel drive, developed by ZF Friedrichshafen AG. This advanced transmission seamlessly blends hydrostatic and mechanical drives to deliver optimised performance across various applications.
Gerhard Pirnbacher, Head of Quality Management at Liebherr Bischofshofen, stated: "The transmission from our partner ZF is a key component of the drivetrain in our XPower wheel loaders. With around 64 million operating hours logged by XPower models, this system has proven its exceptional robustness."
The landmark machine, bearing special anniversary decals and a hand-signed transmission by ZF employees, will be delivered to the BERGER Group in Passau, Germany. It will operate in a quarry owned by BERGER Rohstoffe GmbH near ZF’s transmission plant in the Bavarian Forest.
Launched nearly a decade ago, Liebherr’s XPower L 550 to L 586 models are recognised for their fuel efficiency, durability, and intelligent driveline technology. The variable ZF transmission continuously adjusts the ratio between hydrostatic and mechanical paths, ensuring the machine delivers maximum efficiency and power.
These loaders play a vital role in infrastructure and logistics, particularly in heavy-duty operations like quarrying, construction, and large-scale truck loading. With growing demand in bulk handling, XPower wheel loaders support truck fleets by enabling quick and efficient material transfer.
This milestone further cements Liebherr’s reputation in shaping the future of smart and sustainable construction equipment.
