Public Works Department Minister Vikramaditya Singh has called for the construction of a Rs. 19.09-crore, 110-meter single-lane steel truss motorable bridge over the Beas River. The proposed bridge will be located at Pandoh in Mandi district.
Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Friday. During the meeting, Singh requested the construction of an alternate road from Ghatasni to Kullu via Shilha, Badhani, and Bhubujot.
The proposed road will include a tunnel at Bhubujot, which is expected to reduce the distance by 40 km on National Highway 144.
"This road will greatly facilitate tourists visiting Kullu district," Singh said. He also urged Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to approve the construction of a double-lane bridge over the Beas River.
The bridge, which will cost Rs.125.57 cr, is proposed between Basantipattan and Kheri. Once completed, it will connect Kangra and Hamirpur districts under the Bharat Setu Yojana. Singh mentioned that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had also raised this issue with the Union Minister.
Singh also requested the construction of a Rs. 19.09-cr, 110-meter single-lane steel truss motorable bridge over the Beas River at Pandoh. The proposed bridge will be located on the Pandoh-Shiva road in Mandi district.
Additionally, Singh expressed his gratitude to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for sanctioning Rs. 350 cr under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF). This funding will be used to improve road connectivity and boost the economic growth of the state.
He also thanked the minister for supporting the exemption of ropeway projects from forest clearances by the Union Ministry for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change.
