Union Minister of State for Textiles, Ajay Tamta, has announced that the Central government is making significant investments in the road infrastructure of Himachal Pradesh. With Rs 73,000 crore worth of road construction projects currently in progress, the government is focusing on enhancing the connectivity and accessibility of the state’s hilly regions. The projects are expected to improve transportation, boost local economies, and provide better access to remote areas.
A substantial investment is being made in road infrastructure, with national highways and other projects valued at Rs 73,000 crore. These initiatives are focused on improving connectivity across the state.
The National Highways Authority of India is executing several critical road projects worth Rs 43,000 crore. These include the construction of 768 kilometres of roads and 68 tunnels, aimed at improving the transportation network in the region.
Significant projects under construction include:
The Border Roads Organisation is constructing 589 kilometres of roads in Himachal Pradesh, contributing to the state’s overall infrastructure development.
Himachal Pradesh now has a total of 2,592 kilometres of national highways, further enhancing its road connectivity and infrastructure resilience.
The construction of these roads is a significant step in addressing the infrastructure challenges faced by Himachal Pradesh, especially considering the difficult terrain and hilly landscapes. Improved roads will not only provide better access to urban areas but also connect remote villages, facilitating smoother transportation of goods and services.
The development of these highways and roads is expected to play a crucial role in economic growth, tourism, and accessibility for local communities. With road infrastructure being a key driver of development in mountainous states, these projects are set to positively impact the daily lives of residents and businesses.
While progress is being made, there are some challenges related to land acquisition and clearance processes. These hurdles have led to delays in certain projects. However, efforts are being made to address these issues and expedite the completion of essential roadworks.
Tamta stressed that the road projects were critical for the state’s overall development and that timely clearance of any pending issues would allow for faster execution. The goal is to ensure that the state’s road network continues to improve, paving the way for better connectivity and infrastructural growth.
The ongoing road construction projects in Himachal Pradesh represent a major boost to the state’s infrastructure, ensuring better connectivity, accessibility, and economic development. With significant investments being made in road construction, the state is on track to improve its transportation network, which is vital for both residents and businesses. These projects are expected to have long-term positive effects on the state’s growth, making Himachal Pradesh more connected and accessible than ever before.
