The Kerala government is working hard to complete the construction of the 500-kilometer-long hill highway. The Public Works Department (PWD) has already completed 250 kilometres and is now preparing an action plan to finish another 250 kilometres before March. Minister P.A. Mohammed Riyas has given instructions on how to speed up the process.
The hill highway stretches from Nandarapadavu in Kasaragod to Parassala in Thiruvananthapuram, covering a total distance of 793.68 kilometres. The road will be 12 meters wide and will be built in 55 different sections. The project follows high construction standards, including BM and BC-grade materials. The Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) provides financial support for construction.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan recently inaugurated the first stretch of the project, which includes the Kozhikode Kodenchery Kakkadampoyil Road. So far, 250 kilometres have been completed, with a total estimated cost of Rs 3,600 crores. The government has already spent Rs 1,288 crores.
