The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) held its eighth meeting at the Command Control Room on February 20, approving several key infrastructure and development projects to improve the city’s urban landscape. From road expansions to new bus depots, these initiatives aim to enhance connectivity and public amenities across Hyderabad.
Multi-Level Flyovers and Road Expansions
GHMC has approved the acquisition of over 380 properties to facilitate the construction of multi-level flyovers and road expansions at crucial junctions like KBR Park, Jubilee Hills, and Khajaguda. These developments will help ease traffic congestion and improve mobility in high-traffic areas.
Budget Allocation for Developmental Works
To support infrastructure enhancement, GHMC has allocated Rs 250 million per zone for various developmental works. The funds will be utilized for upgrading parks, improving sports facilities, and other urban development initiatives.
New Bus Station and Government Projects
The committee sanctioned a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for 5.37 acres of government land to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) for the construction of the Midhani Bus Station and Depot. Additionally, GHMC approved the lease extension for the Telangana Government Special Protection Force at Buddha Bhavan.
Skill Development Initiatives
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the Lighthouse Community Foundation to launch a skill development training initiative for unemployed youth and women at the Borabanda GHMC Community Hall. This initiative aims to provide essential skills to boost employment opportunities.

Discussions in the meeting also highlighted improvements in sanitation, street lighting, and sports ground development. Additionally, the GHMC emphasized the importance of an efficient tax collection drive, particularly targeting corporate schools to ensure adequate revenue for city projects.
Previously, the GHMC council approved an estimated budget of Rs 84.40 billion for the financial year 2025-26, with a revised budget of Rs 81.18 billion for 2024-25. These funds will be instrumental in executing the approved development projects across Hyderabad.
With these new approvals, Hyderabad is set for significant urban transformation. From improved traffic management to better public amenities, these initiatives mark a major step toward making the city more efficient, sustainable, and well-connected.
