The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced the construction of a 380-kilometre greenfield expressway under the Green Highway Policy. The Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway aims to improve Uttar Pradesh’s road infrastructure by connecting Noida, Ghaziabad, and Kanpur. The project will significantly reduce congestion and cut travel time from Ghaziabad to Kanpur to just 5 hours and 30 minutes, compared to the current 8-hour journey.
Once completed, the Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway will provide seamless connectivity to nine key districts of Uttar Pradesh, including:
According to media reports, there are plans to extend the expressway to Jewar Airport in Noida, further enhancing connectivity in the region. The northern section of the expressway will link with National Highway 9, while the southern section will connect with the 62.7-km-long Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway.
