The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India, has approved ₹225.66 crore to upgrade a 23.95-kilometer stretch of National Highway 322, from Basudevpur in Samastipur district to Dilahi in Darbhanga district. The project aims to strengthen regional connectivity, ensure smoother traffic flow, and improve road safety.
The work is expected to be completed by 2027, with a maintenance period of five years thereafter. This upgrade is seen as a significant step toward enhancing transportation infrastructure in Bihar’s northern districts.
Bihar’s Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen welcomed the project approval, highlighting that the upgrade from Basudevpur to Dilahi will greatly benefit local residents. He noted that the improved highway will reduce traffic congestion, boost trade, and speed up development. The minister also assured that the state government will support the project fully to ensure it is completed on time and with quality, helping connect remote areas to Patna more efficiently.
Once completed, the NH 322 upgrade will provide faster and safer travel between Samastipur and Darbhanga, strengthen regional economic activity, and modernize critical infrastructure. By improving road quality, bridges, and safety features, this project reinforces Bihar’s ongoing push toward connectivity, development, and industrial growth.
