In a significant move, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved the expansion of the Yamuna Expressway to connect Noida, Vrindavan, and Aligarh. This project aims to enhance connectivity and boost tourism, particularly in Mathura, by linking the famous Banke Bihari Temple with a dedicated six-lane expressway. The expansion aligns with the government's vision of developing heritage corridors similar to Ayodhya and Kashi.
Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Industrial Development Department, confirmed the approval of the project by the Uttar Pradesh government. Sharing the update on social media, he stated, “Now, it’s Mathura’s turn.”
He further added, “The Phase 2 master plan of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has been approved by the government. This will greatly benefit Aligarh and Mathura districts! The way has been cleared for the Chief Minister's ambitious plan to connect Banke Bihari Ji's temple with the Yamuna Expressway through a six-lane expressway and to build heritage corridors on both its sides.”
During the first Holi program of Mathura-Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the importance of decorating the city of Shri Krishna. He stated that, like Ayodhya and Varanasi, Mathura will now witness a major transformation with the expressway expansion.
With this project, connectivity between Noida, Vrindavan, and Aligarh is set to improve, making travel faster and more efficient. The heritage corridor will not only support tourism but also boost economic opportunities in the region.
