Aligning with its “Aaj Banayein Kal” campaign, Volvo Construction Equipment displayed ten of its machines at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026. The company launched EC650, the all-new 65-tonne excavator designed particularly for the mining sector. Along with this new launch, Volvo also showcased its 20-tonne excavator range, EC300 and EC 480D at the mining zone, road compactors, and L120 and L150 wheel loaders.

Meet the All-New Volvo’s 65-Tonne Mining Excavator

is the key highlight in Volvo CE’s Bauma 2026 display. It sits in the 65-tonne class and targets heavy excavation, mass earthmoving and mining applications.

So, what can a 65-tonne excavator actually handle? Its 435 hp Volvo D13E engine gives the EC650 the power needed for large-scale excavation, overburden removal and mining material loading. The heavy-duty undercarriage, boom and arm are also designed around these high-volume applications. 

Key Highlights of the Volvo EC650:

• Hydraulics that match mining requirements
  Volvo’s Independent Metering Valve Technology adjusts hydraulic flow according to the work being performed. Engine-pump optimisation also lowers engine rpm while maintaining power, helping control fuel consumption during long operating cycles.
• Better visibility around the excavator
  Mining sites demand clear awareness of people and equipment nearby. Rearview cameras, LED lighting and optional 360° Smart View give operators a clearer view around the EC650.
• Available for mining customers
  The EC650 is available for immediate delivery, with Volvo also offering it through its Equipment-as-a-Service model.

Meet Volvo’s Most Popular Excavator Lineup!

Volvo’s EC210, EC215 and EC220 cover the 20–22-tonne excavator segment. Together, they target roadwork, urban infrastructure, quarrying and earthmoving.

• EC210: With 123 kW power and a 1.1 cum bucket, the EC210 suits road excavation, irrigation, urban projects and bulk material handling. Breaker attachments also extend its use to demolition work.
• EC215: The Made-in-Bharat EC215 focuses on infrastructure and earthmoving applications, where consistent digging performance, fuel use and uptime matter across long project cycles.
• EC220: With 22,338 kg operating weight and 1–1.22 cum buckets, the EC220 fits heavier excavation jobs. Its bucket options also cover materials such as clay, limestone, sandstone and blasted rock.

Volvo EC300 and EC480 in the Mining Zone

Another highlight of Volvo Construction Equipment at bauma India 2026 was its machines in the mining zone: Volvo EC300 and EC480. 

Where Does the EC300 Fit?

The EC300 steps up when a project needs more excavation and loading capacity.

• Quarrying: Its 0.52–2.06 cum buckets allow more material to be moved with each digging cycle.
• Road and site work: The 29,700–38,800 kg operating weight and 189 kW engine suit bulk earthmoving, trenching and site preparation.
• Larger excavation: It fits projects where a smaller excavator may need too many cycles to move the required volume.

When Do You Need the EC480?

The EC480 moves into much larger mining and excavation work.

• Mining and quarrying: Its 1.77–3.8 cum buckets give it the capacity to handle larger volumes of soil and rock.
• Fuel Saving: It uses ECO mode to lower fuel consumption while working on large working sites or heavy applications like truck loading. 
• Mass excavation: With 47,300–53,100 kg operating weight, it fits large road projects, trenching and heavy civil construction.

Volvo SD110 and DD90 for Road Compaction

India has the second-largest road infrastructure in India as per the India Brand Equity Foundation. However, news around damaged roads is also quite common here. Roads fail from the bottom up. Poor subgrade compaction shows itself two monsoons later, as cracks and settlement.

The SD110 single drum compactor was built for that first layer. Volvo created it specifically for the Indian market. 

• Wide drum for roadwork: Its 2,134 mm drum width covers a wider area with each pass, which is useful on road construction sites.
• High compaction force: The SD110 delivers a high centrifugal force of 243 kN for compacting soil and other fill materials.
• Adjustable vibration: Its 0–30 Hz vibration frequency and high or low amplitude settings let operators adjust compaction for different soil types and layer thicknesses.

The DD90 handles the finish. It is a double drum asphalt compactor designed for flexible pavement applications in India, built to deliver a high-quality mat in fewer passes. 

• Right size for roadwork: With an 8,700 kg operating weight and 1,676 mm drum width, the DD90 can cover a good area with each pass.
• Adjustable compaction: Dual amplitudes and frequencies let operators match vibration settings to the asphalt and material being compacted.
• Faster rolling: Its 50 Hz high-frequency setting supports faster rolling speeds while maintaining the required vibration.
• Consistent water coverage: The automatic spraying system changes water flow according to machine speed. This keeps the drums covered and helps prevent asphalt from sticking to them.

L120 Electric: Quiet, Clean, and Sustainable

The L120 Electric is a 20-tonne wheel loader with a 6-tonne lifting capacity and zero exhaust emissions.

• Urban and indoor work: It suits waste sites, recycling centres, warehouses, ports and logistics centres where low noise matters.
• Longer working hours: Near-silent operation can make it useful at sites with strict noise limits or extended working hours.
• Quick charging: A CCS2 fast DC charger charges it from 10% to 95% in about 90 minutes. 
• Lower maintenance: With no engine-related parts, Volvo says maintenance needs can drop by around 30%.

Volvo L150: The Wheeled Loader Beside the Excavator

L150 shared Volvo’s Mining zone with the EC480 and EC650 at Bauma CONEXPO India 2026. While the excavators dig and load, the L150 takes care of moving the material. 

• Moves large volumes: Its 3.4–14 cum bucket range suits truck loading, crusher feeding, stockpiling and aggregate handling.
• Controls fuel use: Volvo says the H-Series updates can deliver up to 15% greater fuel efficiency than G-Series machines. This can matter when the loader works through long loading cycles.
• Smoother direction changes: Reverse By Braking slows the loader during direction changes, reducing stress on components and making repeated loading cycles easier for the operator.

Aaj Banayein Kal: The Idea Behind The Stand

The whole showcase carried a campaign line, 'Aaj Banayein Kal', meaning "Let's Build Tomorrow, Today".

It tells India's infrastructure story through children's dreams and through the contractors, customers and operators who build the country every day. 

Volvo also reaffirmed its India commitment earlier through its Technology Centre in Bengaluru, which drives R&D, localisation and product innovation for India and global markets.
