In a strong move to improve road infrastructure in Telangana, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met the Union Minister on Monday, May 5, 2025. The meeting focused on speeding up approvals for several key highway and expressway projects that are important for the state’s overall development.
According to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the discussions mainly focused on the RRR, Hyderabad-Amaravati Expressway, and other pending projects.
The CM requested immediate financial and Cabinet-level approval for the northern section of the RRR, which has already reached the tendering stage. He emphasised that both the northern and southern parts of the RRR should be developed together to ensure balanced growth across the region.
Another major demand placed by Mr. Reddy was the early clearance of the Hyderabad-Amaravati Expressway. This Greenfield project aims to connect Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, with Amaravati, the upcoming capital of Andhra Pradesh. The expressway is expected to boost connectivity, trade, and travel between the two states.
The Chief Minister also asked for the construction of an elevated corridor on the Mannanur-Srisailam section of National Highway 765. This stretch connects Hyderabad to the famous pilgrimage town of Srisailam, which sees heavy traffic, especially during religious events.
To enhance urban and regional connectivity, CM pushed for the development of radial roads linking the existing Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the proposed RRR. He mentioned specific corridors like Hyderabad-Dindi-Mannanur and Hyderabad-Mancherial, as well as the stretch from ORR to Manneguda.
Officials stated that the Hyderabad-Amaravati Greenfield Expressway, once completed, will be a six-lane project, built from scratch, bypassing existing roadways. While the central government has given preliminary approval, key steps like land acquisition and finalising the Detailed Project Report (DPR) are still pending. The project is expected to reduce travel time significantly, spur economic growth, and create new commercial hubs along the corridor.
The Hyderabad-Amaravati Expressway and the northern part of the RRR are seen as game-changers for Telangana. These projects will not only improve connectivity but also attract investments, create jobs, and boost the state's economy.
