Chennai: The much-awaited railway flyover at Singaperumal Koil near Chengalpattu is finally opening today (February 19). The construction took 16 years, causing years of struggle for commuters. Now, people are happy as their long wait is finally over.
Singaperumal Koil town has over 30 villages, and thousands of people travel through this area daily. The National Highway here is always crowded, leading to long traffic jams. Many vehicles have to wait in line for up to 2 kilometres.
The railway crossing in this area is another major issue. The gates remain closed for hours to allow express trains to pass. This causes even more congestion on the roads, making travel difficult for commuters.
The Singaperumal Koil-Sriperumbudur Road is one of the busiest roads in the suburbs. Many vehicles, including those heading to Oragadam SIPCOT, use this route. However, with the new flyover, traffic will now move more smoothly.
People in the area are excited as they believe this flyover will make their daily travel much easier. The Highways Department had earlier announced that the construction would be completed by December 2024, but it is now opening sooner than expected.
In conclusion, after years of delays, the Singaperumal Koil flyover is finally ready. This new road will reduce travel time and traffic jams, bringing relief to thousands of people every day.
