Jaipur, Rajasthan – The Rajasthan government has greenlit a significant infrastructure project, a 110-km-long Northern Ring Road around Jaipur, with an estimated investment of ₹6,500 crore. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced this key project at the December 2024 Rising Rajasthan Summit to boost connectivity and economic growth.
Minister Gadkari emphasized a fair approach to land acquisition, proposing that 40% of the developed land near the new bypass be allocated back to the original landowners (farmers). This unique model aims to ensure farmers directly benefit from the surge in land value due to infrastructure development.
During the summit, Minister Gadkari highlighted the transformative potential of such projects. "Land prices could increase up to fivefold following the construction of these roads, directly benefiting local communities," he stated. He also underscored the importance of efficient transportation networks for economic growth, especially for sectors relying on goods movement by truck.
Beyond the Northern Ring Road, several other projects totaling ₹30,000 crore in investments were unveiled:
Kotputli to Agra Greenfield Expressway: ₹6,800 crore investment, expected completion by September 2025.
Jaipur-Kishangarh-Jodhpur to Amritsar Highway: ₹12,000 crore investment, with its Detailed Project Report (DPR) currently underway.
The Northern Ring Road is set to be a catalyst for economic growth in Jaipur and its surrounding areas. Enhanced road infrastructure is anticipated to boost tourism, facilitate trade, and generate numerous employment opportunities, paving the way for a more prosperous Rajasthan.
