Bihar Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin announced on Tuesday in the Bihar Legislative Council that the much-awaited four-lane road from Purnea to Khagaria will be built soon. The project aims to enhance road connectivity and increase economic growth in the area.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will construct the new 150-kilometer highway. The project will reduce travel time, improve transportation, and make commuting safer.
Besides the highway, the government has also planned an additional two-lane bridge over the Kosi River. This was announced as a reply to a question asked by MLC Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh. The minister has assured that the state government is committed to enhancing connectivity in Central Bihar and the Seemanchal area.
The four-lane highway from Khagaria to Purnea will be the key to Bihar's economic progress. Improved roads will enhance transportation, support business expansion, and provide new employment opportunities. They will also increase access to basic services like health and education.

Strengthening Farmer Organisations
During the session of the Bihar Legislative Council, MLC Sarvesh Kumar raised the issue of promoting farmer organisations in the state. While responding, Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha briefed about major updates regarding this initiative.
The state government has established 696 FPOs in Bihar. These collectives enable farmers to cooperate, sell their products at improved prices, and obtain improved agricultural equipment and inputs. Currently, there are more than 10,000 operational FPOs in the state.

The government is also working to improve agricultural infrastructure. This includes providing farmers with high-quality seeds, fertilisers, and pesticides. Collective farming and improved market access will allow farmers to expand their businesses and increase their incomes.
