Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved a payment of Rs. 14 crore to MahaMetro. The payment is for the construction of a flyover at Nal Chowk on Karve Road.
The flyover is part of the ongoing metro work under the Vanaz Corner to Ramwadi Metro project.
MahaMetro had earlier reported that the construction costs had exceeded the pre-approved budget. It had submitted a demand for an additional Rs.19 crore to cover the expenses.
Following an assessment by the College of Engineering Pune (COEP), the actual additional cost was determined to be Rs. 14 crore. The PMC has now approved this amount for payment.
The flyover project was originally approved by the PMC Standing Committee in 2020 with a budget of Rs. 39 crore. However, the total expenditure for the project has now reached ₹58 crore.
The COEP report validated that the additional costs were justified. This led to the approval of Rs 14 crore from the PMC’s metro fund, which has a provision of Rs.15.80 crore allocated for metro-related expenses.
Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale approved the payment during the Standing Committee meeting. The meeting took place on 13th December.
