The Patna-Purnia six-lane greenfield expressway, now extended to 282 km, will link Dighwara in Saran district to Dagarua in Purnia district. This expansion will enhance connectivity in the Kosi and Seemanchal regions.
The Patna-Purnia six-lane greenfield expressway has been approved for an additional 32 km of new alignment. Construction is set to begin soon. The expressway will stretch from Dighwara in Saran district to Dagarua in Purnia district.
During a press conference in Saharsa, Madhepura JD(U) MP Dinesh Chandra Yadav highlighted that the expressway will benefit the Kosi and Seemanchal regions. The road's longest stretch will connect rural and riparian areas, as reported by TOI.
Originally approved for 250 km, the expressway now extends to 282 km, starting at Dighwara and ending at Dagarua.
The expressway will bypass Hajipur town, beginning at the Hajipur-Chhapra NH-31 near Dighwara in Saran district. It passes through key locations, including Bidupur, Kachhidargah, Dumari Bujurg, Patepur, Rajapakhar, Laxmanpur, and the northern side of Jandaha.
The expressway will also cross NH-322 between Sarangpur and Sarairanjan. It will connect villages like Chandaur and Chaita, as well as NH-527 between Rosara and Jahangirpur. The route will further link Debdha, Ladma, and Kusheshwarsthan.
The road will enter the Kosi region at Kathdumer and pass through areas like Rajanpurbadhba, Sonbersa Kachahri, and the Kahra block headquarters at Haripur-Makhar. It will connect villages such as Lagma-Bhaptiha, Khajuraha, Patarghat, Maganwar, Jemhara, Bhawangama, and Rajni before reaching Purnia district.
In Purnia, the expressway will pass near Barhara Kothi, Damaili, Kajra-Kajha, Parora, Banbhag, the Purnea aerodrome, Gulabbag, and Kashwa. It will eventually merge with NH-27 at Dagarua.
