Odisha to Receive Rs. 509 Crore for Railway Flyovers Construction

The Ministry of Railways has approved Rs. 509 crore for two major railway flyovers in Odisha. These flyovers will be constructed in the Cuttack and Rayagada districts.

Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned Rs. 509 crore for two major railway flyovers construction in Odisha. These flyovers will be built in the Cuttack and Rayagada districts. The project is part of the Energy, Mineral & Cement Corridor Scheme. It aims to boost train movements and reduce traffic congestion on key railway routes.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, during his recent visit to Odisha, mentioned the sanction of the above rail infrastructure projects.

Major Highlights of the Project

89 Km Rail Flyover in Cuttack District: A 10.89 km rail flyover will be built, connecting Rajathgarh, Radhakishorepur, and Machhapur railway stations in Cuttack district. This project will enhance operations by allowing simultaneous train movements and reducing cross-traffic delays. The total cost is Rs. 268.92 crore.

50 Km Rail Flyover in Rayagada District: A 5.50 km rail flyover will be constructed at Singapur Road Station in Rayagada district. It will address congestion on the Raipur-Vizianagaram rail line, enabling uninterrupted train movements. The estimated project cost is Rs. 239.83 crore.

• Simultaneous Train Movements: The new flyovers will enable simultaneous train operations from multiple directions. This will boost the efficiency of train operations across the region.
• Elimination of Operational Inefficiencies: The flyovers will resolve operational issues caused by cross-traffic. Key junctions like Singapur Road Station, Rajathgarh, Radhakishorepur, and Machhapur will see reduced delays and smoother operations.
• Reduction in Congestion: These projects will ease congestion in the Nergundi-Cuttack-Barang-Rajathgarh area and the Rayagada-Singapur Road corridor. This will ensure smoother train operations and quicker travel times.
• Improved Passenger Experience: Reduced delays and better operational flow will enhance the travel experience for passengers in these regions.
• Addressing Traffic Constraints: Key junctions in the Khurda Road and Waltair divisions face bottlenecks due to cross-movements at Singapur Road and Rajathgarh-Radhakishorepur-Machhapur stations. These delays occur as trains wait for clearance. The new flyovers will create dedicated paths, ensuring uninterrupted train movements.
