Greater Noida, India – To reduce traffic and boost connectivity in Noida Extension, Greater Noida Authority has cleared a plan for a 4-km elevated road. This crucial infrastructure project, estimated to cost ₹400 crore, will connect Sector 4 in Greater Noida with the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. Moreover, it provides much-needed relief to thousands of daily commuters.
The proposed elevated corridor will start from the 130 Metre Wide Road in Sector 4. Moreover, it will pass over the densely populated areas of Shahberi and Crossings Republik in Ghaziabad before merging with the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. Officials have confirmed that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will undertake the construction of this important road.
Ravi Kumar NG, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Noida Authority, emphasized the project's importance, stating "We have given in-principle approval for this 4km elevated road because traffic congestion in Noida Extension is set to rise."
Officials also noted that involving NHAI in the project offers a significant advantage due to their proven expertise in land acquisition. An official from the Greater Noida Authority, aware of the development, highlighted “NHAI can do a better job when it comes to acquire the land for the project in Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad because it has already done so for the Delhi-Meerut Expressway recently. NHAI will be in a better position to decide the land rates."
This strategically elevated road is a key part of the Greater Noida Authority's long-term efforts to reduce traffic bottlenecks. Managing truck traffic efficiently is crucial to easing congestion and ensuring smoother connectivity between Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.
Besides this new elevated road, other long-term solutions include an underpass at Kisan Chowk in Noida Extension Sector 1, expected to be operational in about 1.5 years. Short-term measures involve widening existing arterial and internal roads to ensure smoother traffic flow for residents.
