Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced a significant investment of Rs 30,000 crore in nine major road and highway projects in Rajasthan. The announcement was made during the 'Infrastructure: An Important Link in Supply Chain' session at the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit. These projects cover a combined length of 800 kilometres and include key routes such as the Northern Jaipur Ring Road and the Jaipur-Kishangarh-Jodhpur-Amritsar Highway.
Gadkari highlighted the strategic importance of these projects, emphasising that they would drive the development of Rajasthan’s tribal districts. "The Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, passing through these districts, will accelerate their development and unlock industrial potential," he said. He further stressed that an efficient transport system is crucial for driving investment, creating assets, and generating job opportunities.
Gadkari also noted the impact of improved infrastructure on land prices, stating that the construction of roads had increased land prices by five times. He suggested that the Rajasthan government consider developing a new area of Jaipur with the Jaipur Development Authority, offering a percentage of developed land to farmers to generate additional income.
Rajasthan’s Future Road Network: A Transformative Step
Rajasthan’s Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Jogaram Patel, praised the initiatives for their transformative potential. “He emphasized the importance of a robust road network and logistics sector for the state's overall development. For the first time, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma has undertaken measures to link Rajasthan's four corners with a seamless road network," Patel said.
These projects are expected to enhance connectivity across the state significantly, driving economic growth and improving living standards in Rajasthan.
