The construction of National Highway 144A, connecting Jammu to Poonch via Akhnoor, Nowshera, and Rajouri, is progressing rapidly. Authorities are working on a war-footing to complete the project soon, ensuring better connectivity and reduced travel time.
Alongside NH-144A, a motorable bridge in Rajouri is also under construction to connect Naushera with Seri Block. Once completed, the bridge will improve connectivity for 10 villages, benefiting residents, especially during medical emergencies.
Structural engineer Arun stated, "We are working day and night to complete the project as soon as possible. The road work is nearing completion, and the bridges will be ready soon."
A local villager shared, "Once the bridge is ready, our travel time will reduce by an hour. It will be a great relief for all villagers."
The BRO is spearheading multiple road and bridge projects in Jammu & Kashmir. In October 2024, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated 12 bridge projects and roadworks worth Rs 731.22 crore, further boosting infrastructure development in the region.
With NH-144A nearing completion and new bridges under construction, improved road connectivity is set to benefit commuters and local communities, enhancing transportation and economic growth.
