The Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) started the first phase of the Foothills Road construction project. The event took place at Sungkhatchu River and was attended by local Civil Society Organisations, tribal Hohos representatives, and departmental officials.
The first phase includes the construction of a 50-foot double-lane galvanised steel bridge over the Sungkhatchu River in Baghty Division. Additionally, 8.5 kilometres of double-lane and 21 kilometres of single-lane roads will connect Tuli and Naganimora.
The project is funded by the Nagaland Public Works Department (NPWD) for Roads and Bridges. Two contractors, M/S P. Mha-Tum & Co. and M/S 3S Infra, have been awarded the work orders. M/S P. Mha-Tum & Co. received Rs 200 million, while M/S 3S Infra was allocated Rs 1,400 million for their respective sections.
The NFHRCC has called for the contractors to start work as soon as possible because they have already signed the Implementation Agreement. They are utterly committed to completing the project on schedule, and prompt action from the contractors is crucial. This will be a gigantic leap in terms of road connectivity for the region and will boost local development and accessibility.
