The Public Works Department (PWD) has sanctioned the construction of a third flyover on the Inner Ring Road, worth ₹185 crore. This new stretch will bridge the gap between the under-construction flyovers at Manewada and Mhalgi Nagar Squares, creating a single 2.80-km long elevated corridor. Once completed, the project aims to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow in South Nagpur.
Project Scope and Investment
Krusha Gharde, executive engineer of the PWD’s World Bank division, confirmed the approval and upcoming construction steps. "We have received approval for ₹185 crore for the third flyover. The previous tender was cancelled, and a new one will be issued next week."
A local commuter shared concerns over current road conditions, stating, “One side of the road has been dug up, and barricades on the other side have narrowed the road, causing heavy traffic jams.”
Once completed, this integrated flyover system will transform connectivity in South Nagpur. The project will facilitate smoother travel between Manewada and Mhalgi Nagar Squares while enhancing road safety. Commuters can expect significant improvements in traffic flow, making daily travel more efficient.
Construction is progressing steadily, and with the new approvals in place, authorities aim to complete the project at the earliest.
