Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the new expressway from Mumbai to Pune and up to Bengaluru would significantly reduce traffic congestion in Pimpri Chinchwad. The new expressway is part of a big ring road network, which will help in cutting down long-term traffic jams in the area.
Gadkari estimated the project's cost to be around Rs 55,000 crores road construction. He added that it would facilitate smoother people's movement and improve the connection of roads between the large cities.
In addition to the expressway, Gadkari said he has approved other infrastructure projects worth Rs 80,000 crores for Pune city. These projects will help boost connectivity throughout the region, saving travel time.
The main projects in this category are the 8,000-crore Nashik Phata to Khed road. The other one is the Talegaon-Chakan elevated road, which is estimated to cost Rs 7,000 crore. It will reduce traffic volumes in a crucial industrial area and connect smoother and easier roads for daily commuters. For example, routes like the Solapur-Yavat and Narhe-Ravet shall improve the ride experience.
Gadkari said he would ensure that the projects were completed on time. "I don't just announce projects; I ensure their timely execution," he said. He further elaborated on his delivery record of infrastructure projects and how India's road network was improved.
