The foundation stone for the Kadaba road project was laid by Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta on January 24, 2025. The road, constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN), will connect Parakkalu Koraga Colony in Kadaba taluk at a cost of Rs 27.5 million. The project falls under the Alankar Gram Panchayat limits.
Speaking at the event, MP Brijesh Chowta emphasized the importance of the PM Jan Man Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2023. The scheme aims to provide essential infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and community centers, to underprivileged communities, particularly the Jenu Kuruba and Koraga tribes. The initiative is set to continue until 2026, ensuring focused development in these areas.
He further highlighted the need for timely disbursal of Rs 24 million, which has been approved for a multipurpose center but is yet to be released by the state government. Stressing the urgency, he urged immediate action to facilitate the construction of four such centers in the region.
MP Brijesh Chowta remarked, “The PM Jan Man Yojana is a transformative initiative for marginalized communities. This road project in Kadaba is a crucial step toward better connectivity and improved infrastructure.”
Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya, who was present at the event, added, “We are committed to ensuring that development reaches the most remote areas. Timely execution of such projects will enhance the quality of life for our tribal communities.”
Apart from road development, MP Chowta has urged the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) to expedite the long-pending Plastic Park project in Mangaluru’s Ganjimutt. Approved in 2022, the project has faced delays in implementation.
The PM Jan Man Yojana’s total allocation of Rs 110 million for Dakshina Kannada district is expected to support multiple infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, and multipurpose centers. The timely execution of these projects will play a key role in enhancing the region’s overall connectivity and development.
