The Government of Karnataka has approved ₹40 crore for the ongoing Kallapu-Sajipa Riverfront Road Project in Mangaluru. This new funding will help the project move forward and improve road connectivity in the area. With this, the total approved amount has now reached ₹55 crore, which covers about 25% of the project’s total estimated cost of ₹160 crore.
A Road Along the Netravati River
This road project is being developed along the Netravati River in a phased manner. It aims to build a strong road network that connects Kallapu to Sajipa, linking important places like Harekala, Pavoor, Innoli, and Ranipura.
The main goal is to improve road connectivity for the people living in these areas. At the same time, the project is expected to support local development and make daily travel easier for residents.
Financial Support and Project Phases
Initially, ₹15 crore was approved for the project. Now, with the addition of ₹40 crore, the total sanctioned amount stands at ₹55 crore. This makes up one-fourth of the total budget. The project will be completed in multiple stages, with each step focusing on a different part of the riverfront.
The approval of this fresh funding shows that the government is serious about completing this important road project without delays.
Better Connectivity, Better Lives
This road will make it easier for people to reach different parts of Mangaluru and nearby areas. In particular, residents of Harekala and surrounding places will benefit a lot as travel time will reduce.
In addition, the improved road will help local traders and small businesses move goods more smoothly, which can boost the local economy.
Support to Local Growth
Once completed, the project is likely to increase economic activity in the area. Better transport means farmers, shopkeepers, and others will find it easier to take their products to the market. Over time, this will support job creation and help the region grow.
Along with this road project, the state government has also approved ₹200 crore for coastal protection to prevent sea erosion along the Karnataka coast. Additionally, a new hanging footbridge in Pavoor-Uliya has been approved with a budget of ₹12 crore. These efforts show that the government is working on improving infrastructure in multiple ways.
While this project brings many benefits, there are also some challenges.
However, regular monitoring and timely work can help solve these problems. It’s important to make sure the project sticks to the plan and doesn't go over budget.
To make this road project a success, work must be done on time and with care. Officials must keep a close eye on progress and also make sure the environment is protected during the construction process.
With the right planning and action, this road will soon become an important part of Mangaluru’s growing infrastructure, helping people and the local economy in the long run.
