The Noida International Airport (NIA), situated in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, is approaching its operational phase. Developed by Zurich Airport AG, the airport is going to become India's largest and the world's fourth-largest airport, which is 5,000 hectares. The initial phase includes a runway and terminal ready for the first flight, with operations expected to commence by July 2025.
To ensure seamless access, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has devised plans to connect NIA with Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). This includes a 72-kilometer Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) linking Ghaziabad to Jewar Airport via Greater Noida. Additionally, a 35.64-kilometer metro line is proposed to connect Jewar Airport to Knowledge Park II in Greater Noida, facilitating direct transit to Delhi.
The NHAI is constructing a 31-kilometer link road connecting Jewar Airport to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway via Faridabad. Furthermore, the body is developing an 8-kilometer emergency road, 30 meters wide, to connect the airport directly to the National Highway.
Jewar Airport will also be integrated with several major expressways:
These connections aim to alleviate traffic congestion and improve accessibility for residents and travelers across the region.
Noida International Airport will create over one lakh jobs and boost economic growth in Delhi-NCR and Western UP. The YEIDA is overseeing the implementation of this project, ensuring timely completion and integration with existing infrastructure.
With metro and highway links, Jewar Airport will boost Noida’s connectivity, turning it into a major global travel hub.
