JCB launched the 3DX Super Refresh 4X4 backhoe loader in Imphal, Manipur, on October 14, 2026. This JCB machine features a 73 bhp diesel engine, standard four-wheel drive (4WD), a 6-in-1 multipurpose bucket and updated operating controls. JCB claims up to 10% lower fuel consumption than the previous model. The company has yet to announce its price.
The launch follows the presentation of JCB's refreshed 3DX backhoe loader range at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026 in Greater Noida in September. The latest model also features a digital console, revised gear controls, Auto Idle and Auto Stop.
This JCB machine features a digital console that displays key operating information. A rotating lever mounted on the steering column controls gear selection.
The semi-automatic kick-down function helps operators change gears during loading cycles. These updates change how operators access machine information and manage gear selection.
JCB offers its Smooth Ride System as an optional feature on the 3DX Super Refresh 4X4. The system is designed to improve stability and operator comfort when travelling over rough ground. Buyers can contact local dealerships to confirm its availability.
The backhoe loader uses JCB's Stage 5-430 diesel engine. The turbocharged, four-cylinder engine has a displacement of 3.0 litres and produces 73 bhp. Its maximum torque is 440 Nm at 1,150 rpm.
The engine uses common-rail direct injection. Its Stage 5 emissions-control system includes exhaust-gas recirculation (EGR), a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and a diesel particulate filter (DPF).
The machine has a maximum digging depth of 5.05 metres and a rear bucket capacity of 0.30 cubic metres. Its front loader bucket holds 1 cubic metre and has a maximum dump height of 2.93 metres.
The backhoe and front loader allow the machine to handle excavation, loading and general earthmoving tasks.
Four-wheel drive comes as standard on the 3DX Super Refresh 4X4. Its two-speed driveline provides additional traction during loading and dozing.
The standard 6-in-1 bucket handles loading, dozing and material movement. Operators can perform these tasks without changing attachments for each operation.
JCB claims the new model can consume up to 10% less fuel than the outgoing version. The company attributes the reduction to its engine, hydraulic system and automatic controls.
A variable-displacement hydraulic pump adjusts oil flow according to operating requirements. This helps minimise hydraulic losses when less flow is needed.
Auto Idle reduces engine speed after 10 seconds of inactivity. Auto Stop switches off the engine after six minutes without activity. The machine also offers multiple work modes for different operating conditions.
At the Imphal launch, a local dealer representative reported a 16% reduction in fuel consumption compared with earlier models. This figure differs from JCB's claim of up to 10% savings against the previous model.
The figures cannot be directly compared without details of the test conditions and reference machines. The available information does not establish whether both claims use the same testing conditions.
Actual fuel consumption depends on the task, soil conditions, idling time, operator behaviour and maintenance. Consumption can therefore vary between operating conditions.
JCB specifies a primary fuel-filter replacement interval of up to 1,000 hours, compared with the previous 500-hour interval. This applies when maintenance follows the prescribed schedule.
The hydraulic oil-change interval is 4,000 hours when the relevant filtration system is used.
The machine includes offline diagnostics for reading fault codes. This function helps technicians identify reported faults and troubleshoot problems.
The machine also uses open-loop crankcase ventilation. According to the supplied information, this removes the need to replace the associated filter.
The 3DX Super Refresh 4X4 features rollover protection and falling-object protection structures (ROPS and FOPS). These structures provide protection against the specified rollover and falling-object hazards.
JCB also states that the machine has lower cab noise levels. This is intended to improve operator comfort during long working shifts.
JCB has not announced the price of the 3DX Super Refresh 4X4. Buyers can contact local dealerships for pricing, available configurations and delivery schedules.
The Smooth Ride System is optional, so buyers should confirm whether it is included in their chosen configuration.
