Jamshedpur, India – Construction of the much-awaited Mango-Sakchi flyover in Jamshedpur is making steady progress, with 30% of the work now complete. Out of the total 57 pillars, 29 have already been cast for the 2.8-kilometer-long, four-lane structure. This flyover is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion between the busy Mango and Sakchi areas.
The project is under daily supervision by the Road Construction Department, ensuring work continues at a rapid pace on 28 of the remaining pillars. A notable achievement includes the successful placement of a large, 40-meter-long segmental slab, a key step in the flyover's main structure.
While the state's Road Construction Department initially aimed for an August 2026 completion, the Jamshedpur Division has set an ambitious new target to finish the flyover by December 2025. Executive Engineer Deepak Sahay confirmed this revised deadline, highlighting the division's commitment to accelerating progress without compromising quality.
The main flyover will stretch from Mango Dimna Road to Sakchi Gandhi Ghat, accommodating four lanes of traffic. Additionally, a two-lane flyover is planned from Mango Chowk towards Azad Basti to further ease vehicle movement.
With a population of nearly 2.5 lakh in Mango alone, residents across Jamshedpur are eagerly anticipating relief from the persistent traffic problems. Daily inspections by the Road Construction Department are ensuring both speed and quality, reflecting the administration's determination to meet the advanced deadline and fulfill a long-standing demand of the city. This intensified effort brings renewed hope for smoother commutes in the near future.
