Hindustan Construction Company Ltd (HCC) and Tata Projects Ltd have won a major contract worth Rs 2,191 crore from the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MPMRCL). This contract is for building an 8.65-km underground corridor as part of the Indore Metro Phase 1 project.
This project is special because it is the only underground part of the 31.32-km Indore Metro Phase 1. The package, named IN-05R, will include an 11.32-km tunnel built using a tunnel boring machine (TBM) and seven underground stations. These stations will be at Indore Railway Station, Rajwada, Chota Ganpati, Bada Ganpati, Ramchandra Nagar, BSF/Kalani Nagar, and Airport. The tunnel will connect a ramp east of Indore Railway Station to a ramp west of Airport Station.
HCC holds a 55% share in this joint venture, making it a key player in this metro expansion. This contract further strengthens HCC’s experience in metro projects. Currently, the company is working on Mumbai Metro Line III, where it is constructing 4 km of twin tunnels and four stations. Additionally, HCC is engaged in two metro projects in Chennai.
With this new contract, HCC and Tata Projects will play a major role in transforming urban transport in Indore.
