Govt of India Reports Major Road Construction of 1,131 km in Jammu and Kashmir

Over 1,100 km of Roads Built in Jammu and Kashmir by NHAI 

The government of India declared a new development milestone for the road infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir. Within the last five years, NHAI constructed 1,131 kilometres of roads in the region. The development was made public in the Lok Sabha by Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Jairam Gadkari.
 

Year-Wise Road Construction Progress

Minister Nitin Gadkari presented the annual statistics of road construction in Jammu and Kashmir:

• 2019-20: 46 kilometres constructed
• 2020-21: 234 kilometres constructed
• 2021-22: 263 kilometres constructed
• 2022-23: 217 kilometres constructed
• 2023-24: 243 kilometres constructed
   

Till November 2024, NHAI has already built 128 kilometres for the year 2024-25.
 

Approved Projects and Future Plans

Many highway projects are in the pipeline. These are for

• Road development in the region
• Connectivity to remote areas
• Improve road safety in the country. 
   

All of these projects reflect the government's commitment to better transportation and connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir.
