GMMCO is sharpening its focus on excavators as a key business pillar after recording a 30% year-on-year growth in 2025. The Caterpillar dealer has set a 20% growth target for 2026. The outlook is supported by demand from mining, roads, data centre-linked power, oil and gas, marine, and energy sectors. Chandrashekar V, Managing Director and CEO of GMMCO, shared these details during an exclusive interaction at EXCON 2025.
According to Mr. Chandrashekar, GMMCO’s approach centres on aligning solutions with on-ground project requirements. The company supports customers through buyback options, equipment rentals, used machinery, lifecycle services, and purchase financing. This integrated model is aimed at helping contractors deliver projects efficiently while meeting timelines and cost targets.
At EXCON 2025, GMMCO introduced three new 20-tonne excavator models-321, 322, and 324-developed using direct customer inputs. The machines are equipped with Caterpillar engines, larger bucket capacities, and enhanced fuel efficiency to improve on-site productivity.
Mr. Chandrashekar said Caterpillar is preparing hydrogen-powered systems, electric excavators, and battery-operated dump trucks, to be launched after extensive validation. He added that Caterpillar has more than 800 automated trucks and semi-autonomous dozers in operation. Their deployment depends on job requirements, customer readiness, and site conditions.
