A major infrastructure push is almost ready to transform the journey between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The new four-lane greenfield highway from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam is nearing completion and is expected to open by August 15. This project will significantly improve travel time and enhance truck connectivity across states.
The 162 km NH-365BB, connecting Suryapet to Devarapalli, will cut the Vizag - Hyderabad distance by 56 km. With a budget of ₹2,214 crore, the highway aims to reduce fuel usage and boost freight efficiency especially benefiting truck drivers and logistics operators.
Work is divided into five packages, with over 80% already done:
Out of 124 bridges and underpasses, 117 have been built. The new route includes an 89 km stretch between Khammam and Devarapalli, expected to become a vital truck corridor.
After visiting the highway site, Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao stated: "At least one carriageway must be made operational by July 15. All five packages are progressing smoothly. Service roads will be handled carefully for long-term public benefit."
The new four-lane highway is set to bring down travel time and transportation costs, especially for trucks. Once open, it will transform how goods and people move between Vizag and Hyderabad.
