After decades of limited progress, the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway project is witnessing renewed momentum. Infrastructure officials from the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority and the Noida Authority have formalized a joint effort to resume and complete the long-pending corridor. The expressway aims to cut travel time by up to 40 minutes between Faridabad, Noida, and Ghaziabad—unlocking faster and more seamless regional movement.
A key part of this revival includes the construction of a 600-meter bridge over the Yamuna River near Mangroli village in Noida. This bridge will serve as the crucial missing link connecting Noida to Faridabad, enabling full functionality of the corridor.
Both states have agreed to share the cost of the Yamuna bridge equally. The construction work will be led by the Haryana agency, while the Noida Authority will contribute 50% of the cost. Project estimates are expected to be finalized by the end of 2025, after which on-ground execution will begin.
This marks a breakthrough in inter-agency collaboration, especially for a project that had been stalled due to coordination and funding limitations.
Once completed, the FNG Expressway is expected to offer significant infrastructural advantages:
Vijay Rawal, Chief General Manager of Noida Authority, confirmed, “Now we have got an official letter from the Faridabad government body that they are ready to share the project cost.”
This confirmation clears a critical hurdle in the expressway’s timeline and enables progress on the bridge component that had been pending for years.
Originally proposed in 1989, the FNG Expressway was designed as a strategic decongestion route to offer an alternative to Delhi-bound traffic. Over the years, the lack of coordination, unresolved land acquisition, and financial bottlenecks had delayed progress.
Current status of the project:
Beyond daily commute convenience, the expressway is expected to enhance broader urban infrastructure in the NCR. Its completion will result in a direct, signal-free corridor across Faridabad, Noida, and Ghaziabad, reducing load on older arterial roads.
Key mobility and planning advantages include:
The FNG Expressway’s latest push signifies more than just road construction—it reflects coordinated infrastructure development between two key states of the NCR. With financial alignment and construction planning now on track, this long-delayed corridor is finally poised to fulfill its intended purpose.
As execution resumes, the project sets an example for how strategic collaboration and infrastructure-first thinking can unlock stalled urban mobility networks. For planners, commuters, and developers alike, the FNG Expressway stands as a key future-ready corridor, reshaping how cities in the NCR connect and grow together.
