The long-awaited Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway is now moving forward at a rapid pace. This project will greatly improve travel across the National Capital Region (NCR).
The 56-kilometre-long expressway will include a 23-kilometre stretch inside Noida. Once ready, it will make travel between Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad faster and smoother.
Recently, high-level meetings helped refine the project's plan. The goal is to create a modern, eco-friendly transit system for commuters.
The FNG Expressway will benefit more than 30 sectors and over 1,000 industries along its route. It will help reduce travel times and alleviate traffic congestion on already crowded roads in the NCR.
Better traffic flow means fewer vehicles stuck in traffic. This will also help lower carbon emissions and support NCR’s zero-net carbon goals.
With better connectivity, businesses and residents across these cities will enjoy more opportunities and faster movement.
To make the expressway even more useful, patch roads are being built. These roads will connect various bridges and underpasses to the main FNG road.
These feeder roads will improve travel between Greater Noida West and Greater Faridabad. Such planning ensures that the transport network supports future urban growth in a well-structured way.
A new Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared for the unfinished parts of the expressway. The report has suggested three possible routes.
Surveys for all three routes are complete. The final route will be selected after approval from the department's head office. This careful planning will ensure the project meets the future needs of growing cities.
One major engineering highlight will be a new six-lane bridge over the Yamuna River. The bridge will be 600 metres long.
It will link Noida’s Sector 168 directly with Sector 167A in Faridabad. The estimated cost of the bridge is ₹200 crore. The governments of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh will share this cost.
This cooperation between states demonstrates a shared commitment to enhancing regional travel and strengthening economic ties.
These investments will establish a robust transportation backbone for the NCR. The upgrades will boost economic growth and improve the quality of life. The goal is to create an urban environment that is easy to navigate for everyone, including men, women, and all citizens, promoting equal access to opportunities.
