The stretch of Great Nag Road between Jagnade Square and Ashok Square at Reshimbagh has become a major trouble spot for commuters. Ongoing flyover construction has made the road almost impassable. Crumbling cement roads, deep potholes, and unpaved patches have worsened the situation. This stretch has now become a daily nightmare for drivers.
The situation is particularly bad near Juni Shukrawari Square and Ashok Square. The ongoing construction and narrowed roads have led to frequent traffic jams and accidents. Drivers are forced to maneuver through dangerous conditions, causing delays and accidents.
Many motorists are driving on the wrong side to avoid getting stuck in traffic near a petrol pump. This, combined with unregulated traffic and uneven roads, has turned this important route into a hazardous path. The risks are high, and patience is wearing thin for daily commuters.
Even some of the internal roads in Reshimbagh, which were not properly concretized, are in terrible condition. These roads add to the woes of residents and commuters, making travel more difficult and dangerous.
Commuters and residents have shared their difficulties in navigating these treacherous roads. The rough conditions not only slow down traffic but also increase the risk of accidents. Potholes and uneven roads have turned into hotspots for accidents.
Prashant Tiwari, a 58-year-old street vendor, said, "The potholes often cause flat tyres for both four-wheelers and two-wheelers. Sometimes, street vendor carts overturn because of the uneven surfaces."
Residents near the affected areas face even greater risks. Shrikant Harchade, 33, a local resident, added, "Potholes at every turn are causing accidents. Four-wheelers and even hawkers often collide with walls near corners." The poorly maintained corners make the roads especially dangerous for heavy vehicles, increasing the chance of collisions.
