Gujarat Speeds Up Road Projects For Better Connectivity

Gujarat is making major progress in infrastructure development. The Ahmedabad-Rajkot Highway is being expanded to six lanes, and a new expressway is underway to link Ahmedabad to the new Dholera International Airport. All these constructions will enhance the state's economic growth.

Six-Lane Expansion Of Ahmedabad-Rajkot Highway Reaches Final Stages

Ahmedabad-Rajkot Highway is one of Gujarat's major highways. To make the journey smooth and safe, it is being upgraded to six lanes. On December 31, 2024, workers completed 193 kilometres out of the total 197 kilometres, so 98% of the work had been done.

Union Minister Jagdish Vishwakarma promised in a recent assembly session that the second phase will be finished by December 2025. This ₹3,350 crore proposal will reduce the travel time by road between Ahmedabad and Rajkot by 30 to 45 minutes and lower vehicle fuel consumption by 10 to 15 percent.

₹550 Crore Approved For Ahmedabad-Dholera Airport Expressway Link

The Gujarat government has approved ₹550.49 crore for a 9.56 km expressway connector to connect the new Dholera International Airport. The expressway will offer seamless connectivity between Ahmedabad and Navagam Airport.

The airport will be around 20 kilometres from the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR). The expressway will also link to large projects, such as the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which will facilitate industrial and business development in the area.

How These Projects Will Help Gujarat

The finalisation of the road works will enhance road transport in Gujarat. The Ahmedabad-Rajkot Highway and the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway form part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). The projects will increase travel speed, trade, and industrial development.

When completed, the expressway will reduce travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera to 40-45 minutes, making it easier for both people and businesses.

These projects will also attract further investments, create jobs, and stimulate the state's economy. With improved roads and transportation, Gujarat is consolidating its position as an important industrial and economic hub in India.
