Travelling from Delhi to Jaipur is about to become much faster and smoother. From June, a new road link on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway will allow people to reach Jaipur from Delhi in just two and a half hours.
The new 67-kilometre access-controlled highway connects Bandikui directly to the Jaipur Ring Road. This will reduce the travel distance by around 20 kilometres. Earlier, people had to exit the expressway at Dausa and travel through NH-21, which is a slower four-lane road passing through towns and villages.
However, with the opening of this new stretch, there will be no need to exit early or pass through small towns. The full stretch from the DND Flyway in Delhi to Jaipur will be smooth and without breaks. This will save time and help drivers avoid traffic and slow roads.
At present, vehicles coming from Delhi, Gurgaon, and Faridabad must exit the expressway at Dausa. Then they shift to NH-21, which has a speed limit of 100 kmph. This road also goes through crowded areas, which causes delays and traffic jams.
Now, with the new Bandikui-Jaipur link, drivers can continue on the fast expressway without making any changes. This will reduce the pressure on the old NH-21 highway and make the journey faster and safer for everyone.
Although most of the new highway is ready, one part still needs to be finished. A rail overbridge (ROB) on the Delhi-Ahmedabad railway line is still under construction.
According to a senior official from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the ROB is almost done, and only one side of it remains. He said they are planning to finish the work by the end of May. If needed, a small temporary road diversion will be created for just one kilometre so that vehicles can start using the highway by late June.
Even though the new road is nearly complete, NHAI wants to make sure everything is safe before opening it to the public. NHAI Chairman Santosh Yadav recently said that engineers should check the full stretch carefully.
He also said that roads should not have any problems after opening. Therefore, engineers must drive on the roads several times and fix all issues before allowing vehicles.
In the past, some roads became damaged or unsafe during the rainy season. This caused problems for commuters and led to many complaints.
To avoid such problems this year, NHAI has asked its staff to complete all maintenance work before the rains begin. The goal is to make sure the Delhi-Mumbai expressway stays safe and strong during the monsoons.
People living in Noida, Ghaziabad, and East Delhi will also benefit soon. Another important road link is expected to be ready by December. This is the first nine-kilometer stretch between the DND Flyway and the KMP interchange on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway.
Once this link opens, travellers from East Delhi and nearby areas will also get a smooth, non-stop ride to Jaipur.
The new Bandikui-Jaipur expressway link will change the way people travel between Delhi and Jaipur. It will save time, reduce traffic, and improve road safety. With more road projects coming soon, intercity travel in this region is set to become much better and faster.
