Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami inspected the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. He stated that the elevated road work is in its final stages.
Two lanes of the expressway are completed, and PM Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate it. Media reports suggest the inauguration could happen by December 2024 or early January 2025. However, the official date is yet to be announced.
The project costs an estimated Rs. 13,000 crore, spanning a 210-km distance. It will reduce travel time from 6.5 hours to 2.5 hours, saving commuters significant time.
The expressway’s sections total 32 km, with 15 km in the Baghpat-Ghaziabad border area and 17 km of elevated road in Delhi. It connects to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway at Mavikala village near Baghpat.
Both sections of the expressway are completed. The NHAI has finished preparations for the inauguration. A safety trial using heavy vehicles showed no flaws.
The expressway connects Akshardham with locations like Laxminagar, Geeta Colony, Shastri Park, Khajuri Khas, and Pavi Pushta. It also links to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway in Baghpat.
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami inspected the expressway construction. He stated that the elevated road work is nearing completion. He also mentioned that, “I thank PM and Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, the construction of elevated road from Dehradun to Delhi is in the final stage…once it is completed, the journey from Dehradun to Delhi will become convenient.”
He shared this update on his X handle, stating that: “Conducted a field inspection of the construction work of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway.
