Patna: In a significant development for the New Capital Area of Bihar’s capital city, the state government has approved the construction of a modern four-lane road from Chitkohra to Yarpur. The upcoming stretch aims to enhance road connectivity for residents of newly built government housing complexes in Gardanibagh, where ministers, judges, senior officials, and government staff now reside.
The road project, proposed by the Building Construction Department, will be executed through the Road Construction Department. The Bihar State Road Development Corporation (BSRDC) has confirmed that the road will pass behind Bapu Tower and integrate existing stretches like Road No. 10 to create a unified and smoother route. The goal is to reduce congestion and improve access to vital administrative areas.
As part of the overall infrastructure upgrade, the new road will also support the installation of a central gas pipeline network to supply domestic gas efficiently to the residential colonies. The proposed four-lane route is expected to be truck-accessible, offering smoother delivery of essential services and reducing heavy vehicle congestion on smaller internal roads.
Kumar Ravi, Secretary of the Building Construction Department, stated, “The new four-lane road was urgently needed as the existing routes are narrow and in poor condition. With many senior government officials living here, seamless access and traffic management are top priorities.”
The Executive Engineer of the New Capital Area has submitted the detailed project proposal, and the Road Construction Department will soon initiate the tender process following departmental clearance. Once finalized, construction is set to begin, delivering modern, truck-friendly infrastructure to the state capital.
