Centre Announces Rs 826.66 Crore Highway Projects in Haryana and Rajasthan

Aims to Improve Traffic Flow and Regional Connectivity

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced highway projects worth Rs 826.66 crore in Haryana and Rajasthan. The projects aim to reduce traffic congestion, increase road capacity, shorten travel time and improve freight connectivity, according to The Tribune.

Haryana Gets Rs 340.78 Crore Elevated Corridor

The Centre has approved Rs 340.78 crore for a 2.75-km-long, six-lane elevated corridor at Sohna Chowk in Haryana’s Nuh district. The corridor will come up at the intersection of NH-919 and NH-248A.

Mr Gadkari said the elevated road would separate Gurugram–Nuh through traffic from local and cross traffic. This will allow vehicles to pass through Sohna without traffic signals or interruptions.

The project will also improve road connectivity with the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway and the Kundli–Manesar–Palwal (KMP) Expressway.

Rising Traffic Drives Infrastructure Expansion

Mr Gadkari said increasing traffic demand, rapid urbanisation and expected future growth have created a need for better road infrastructure in the region.

The elevated corridor is expected to address these requirements by reducing congestion and increasing road capacity. It will also strengthen regional connectivity along NH-248A.

Rajasthan Gets Rs 485.88 Crore Highway Upgrade

In Rajasthan, the Centre has approved Rs 485.88 crore to upgrade a 19.22-km stretch of NH-25 to four-lane standards. The project will cover the section between Pachpadra Bypass and Patau Interchange in Balotra district.

Four-Laning to Improve Road Safety and Travel

The NH-25 upgrade is expected to improve traffic movement, road safety and overall travel quality.

The project will also include grade-separated structures at major intersections. These structures will help remove traffic bottlenecks and reduce travel time.

Additionally, the improvements are expected to lower vehicle operating costs along the highway stretch.
