The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated the trial run of the newly built Bandikui–Jaipur Link Expressway, a key connector to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The 66.91-kilometre, four-lane access-controlled stretch was opened for public trial on Wednesday, offering a toll-free travel experience for ten days.
Constructed ahead of schedule at a cost of ₹1,368 crore, this expressway is expected to reduce travel time between Jaipur and Delhi from the current 5–6 hours to just 2.5–3 hours.
The trial run, which began at 8 AM, allows all vehicle categories—except motorcycles, tractors, and other restricted types—to use the road toll-free. This phase is aimed at conducting infrastructure checks, system testing, and quality assessments.
According to B.S. Joiya, Project Director of NHAI’s Dausa Unit, “All preparations for toll collection are complete. As soon as we receive the green signal from higher authorities, toll operations will commence.”
As per IANS reports, the expected toll charges are:
The newly operational Khuri Interchange will regulate traffic from the Manoharpur-Kauthun highway. Additional interchanges are set to be opened shortly to further streamline regional travel.
This expressway is part of a larger effort by NHAI to build high-speed corridors that improve connectivity, reduce congestion, and support economic activity in northern India.
A senior NHAI official stated, “This project is not just about cutting down travel time. It’s a key enabler for economic and social integration in the region. The access-controlled design ensures both safety and speed, making it a future-ready corridor.”
The successful implementation of the trial phase will help identify and address any operational gaps before toll collection officially begins. Once fully functional, the Bandikui–Jaipur Expressway will significantly ease travel for commuters and freight operators alike, strengthening the link between Rajasthan and the national capital region.
As India advances its expressway network, such developments stand as testimony to the country’s commitment towards faster, safer, and more efficient transportation.
