Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has committed to completing the construction of the Jorhat-Jhanji stretch of National Highway 37 in Assam by February 2025. This announcement came during the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha in response to Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi’s concerns over the highway's delayed construction and poor condition.
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has consistently advocated for the swift completion of NH 37, citing the daily struggles of commuters caused by prolonged delays. He emphasised the urgent need for improvement, addressing issues such as frequent accidents and severe traffic congestion along the route. Gogoi has engaged with Minister Gadkari multiple times through meetings and written appeals to prioritize this critical infrastructure project.
The Jorhat-Jhanji section of NH 37 has been plagued by delays for years, leading to significant inconvenience for residents and businesses. Gadkari’s assurance offers hope for resolving the longstanding transportation challenges in the region. Once completed, this stretch is expected to enhance connectivity, improve safety, and provide much-needed relief to commuters.
The construction of NH 37 is a vital step toward boosting Assam’s road infrastructure and ensuring smoother travel for the public, marking a new chapter for the region's development.
