Rajasthan is set to witness a major leap in infrastructure with the development of the 6-lane Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway. However, the expressway spans approximately 1,316 km and passes through several key districts of Rajasthan. The district includes Hanumangarh, Sriganganagar, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Barmer, and Jalore.
The Rajasthan section alone covers around 500 km, connecting Jakhdawali village in Hanumangarh district to Khetlawas village in Jalore district. This modern corridor is expected to improve inter-state connectivity with Punjab, Haryana, and Gujarat.
One of the most significant advantages of this expressway is its impact on truck transportation and freight movement. Travel time between Amritsar and Jamnagar will be reduced from 26 hours to 13 hours, easing the movement of commercial vehicles, especially trucks, that carry essential goods across states.
Smoother roads, reduced fuel costs, and quicker turnaround times will benefit logistics companies and truck drivers. This will improve supply chain efficiency and boost trade activities in Rajasthan and neighbouring states.
This expressway is a landmark step in transforming road transport in Rajasthan and is expected to make a lasting impact on India’s logistics and trade economy.
During the inauguration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked, “This Greenfield Expressway is a new lifeline for the economic development of western India. It will create new employment opportunities and increase business potential across sectors.”
Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal also emphasised, “This project will boost connectivity, especially for rural districts, and will significantly reduce road travel time for truck operators and tourists alike.”
The expressway will directly connect oil refineries such as HMEL, HPCL and Reliance Jamnagar, as well as key seaports like Kandla and Jamnagar. This will strengthen national supply chains and promote Rajasthan as a logistics hub.
