Andhra Pradesh Municipal Minister P Narayana announced on Saturday that construction work for the greenfield capital city of Amaravati will commence by March 15. This development follows the conclusion of the model code of conduct for the recent MLC elections, paving the way for the project's revival.
Minister Narayana stated, "In a couple of days, LOAs (agreements) will be issued to contract agencies with the permission of the authority." He also emphasized the seven-month effort to ensure legal clarity and avoid future disputes.
The initiative aims to develop Amaravati as a modern, planned city, focusing on essential infrastructure such as roads, utilities, and public amenities. The availability of a large land bank allows for comprehensive planning and execution of these infrastructure projects. The funding strategy, based on land sales, ensures that the project progresses with minimal impact on public finances.
